Islamic State Video

While watching the video “the Islamic state” I couldn’t help but feel sorry for the children and the people in general of Syria. They were brain washed into believing that they had to kill for justice. There were small boys from ages that ranged from seven to fifteen saying that when they grew up they were going to kill for what they believed was right and for the Islamic State. In one way you can say that they were brainwashed into believing what they were taught as a young toddler saying that killing was an okay act if it was for a cause from their fathers but in another way you can say that us, or the Americans were brainwashed into believing that killing was a sin and it isn’t okay. It is part of their culture, they feel like they must do what ever it takes to worship their god and it is admiring in a way but really scary in another sense. Watching this video I was reminded of how lucky I am to live in a world were women aren’t suppressed by their husbands and in a world where children can chose their own path to grow in. As the camera crew took us into the city of Syria I recognized how there were barely any women shown in the streets or in the documentary for that matter. I couldn’t help but think it was because the people of Syria felt they shouldn’t be in because women are inferior to them and because they had nothing valuable to say in the documentary. I was appalled by the words of the children and their mental state however I respect that unfortunately that is their culture and it is their way of life. They voluntarily choose to live this way because they unfortunately don’t know anything else.
