Not Marijuana but the World
I was actually about to write my blog about the legalization of Marijuana when I heard about the bombing that went on in Paris. I thought about just writing about marijuana and getting over with it, but after hearing the news I couldn't just be a bystander in all these occurrences. It's incredible how day in and day out bombings occur and the media decides to cover a story when it's for their own gain, when days before the Paris bombing the same happened in Beirut, Baghdad and most recently Kenya. As a human being inhabiting this world I feel extremely indignant at the fact that I was yet another person that didn't know the situations all over the world. After this I came to the realization that it is impossible not to be ignorant; we are all ignorant at all times. Yes, we can try to always be aware of what is going on, but with the media controlling what we see and what we don't it is extremely hard to. And it is also really difficult if you're not omnipotent. I guess the other point I'm trying to clarify is that people reach out when they feel they're doing something good, and when they look like they're being good people. Bombings go on all around the world every single day and no one bats an eye because mass media is more focused on featuring Kim Kardashian's ass on TV; when places we all go to for vacation get struck we decide to change our profile pictures on Facebook, and add a new filter on Snapchat. I would like to clarify that I am deeply hurt by what is going on in Paris, however I am more hurt by what is going on in this world we live in. Times like these is that I not only pray for Paris, but for the world because we are letting everything we live in go to waste.
The motto we started with for this class was to "know the whole story" not just the parts represented by the media. This must be the motto for everyone in the world because when we know the whole story we know the whole truth and when we know the whole truth we can help change it, not by changing your filter on Facebook but by actually helping out. The sad part of all this is that people cry for what happened in Paris and seconds later they're back to their old lives when people who suffered from all the attacks going on in the world might not even have a place to go back to and it wasn't even their fault. We would all like to believe the world isn't a bad place, because it isn't, but there are a lot of bad people. As a human race we need to support and unite because violence back to places where we "think" ISIS is currently located is not the answer. Helping people who suffered from the accidents stay at your home, donating money to help build back the cafe's that were bombed, and simply reaching out because adding a filter on Snapchat is not the only thing you can do.

Carla, I strongly agree with your points. I also feel incredibly frustrated when people add a filter to their profile picture without even trying to find out about the full story, only to move on with their lives, thinking that they actually did something to help.
