Marijuana

This is a very controversial topic and I don't think I am capable of saying if it should be legal or not. However, with this said, there have been major improvements in the U.S. because of Marijuana being legal. Apparently the crime rates have gone down because of the fact that when people are told not to do something they want to do it more. Apart from this there haven't been as many people charged with this petty crime. The good thing about Marijuana being legal is that cops are putting in jail the real criminals instead of having to look out for this type of crime; keeping the streets safe and the jails full. On the other hand, I still don't know everything that's inside it or the long term effects on your body so I don't want to have a definite say on this. Maybe the U.S. could make the same rule they made for cigarettes; they can only smoke when of legal age. There are also a lot of drugs out there that are extremely bad for the organism, yet they are still open fro the public. For example, the long lasting effects alcohol and cigarettes have on the body are irreversible. Also, Marijuana has proven to help people with cancer cope and withstand the pain that cancer entails. There are many positives to Marijuana being legal and only some negatives. Up to this point I think that I would have to side with the idea of Marijuana being legal because it would help the U.S. I think, however, there are still ideas of it being very tabu in many societies, so I'm not sure where else it could be legal. For the betterment of the United Stated Marijuana should be legal because it causes less harm than cigarettes and it could lead to other small issues being solved.
