Immigration

Some may consider immigration to be harmful to a country's well-being. These people may even believe a country should have no immigration at all, but for me, immigration is the doorway and opportunity for a country's economy to flourish. Immigrants help a country's economy as new immigrants consume and pay taxes. To an extent, immigration may be harmful since immigrants are taking jobs, or supplies a country gives to its own people. Having a wall dividing countries has become controversial. In my opinion walls are needed so people, immigrants or not, know what belongs to who. Walls are a visual way of showing what belongs to someone. As in our houses and farms, we have walls and fences which help not only maintain security but also to visually show people outside, that is they want something to do in there, they have to ask or tell you first. This is what immigrants have to do, they have to get their papers, and get visas that approve their visiting and entering to countries.

Immigration may be more of an issue to some countries than to others. The Dominican Republic is an example of a country that has immigration issues. The Dominican Republic is in an island in the Caribbean, shared with Haiti. These countries face problems on the border since Haiti has become a  poor and unsustainable country, and its immigrants want to pass to the Dominican Republic. The issue is that almost all immigrants who want to cross the border are illegal to enter the country. This is due to Haiti's lack of organization with birth certificates or passport and visa control. This lack of organization may be part of the 2010 earthquakes aftermath. These immigrants are traveling to the Dominican Republic in order to get a better life. But it is hard for the Dominican Republic since they have rules to follow.
