It is really incredible what you learn when you get out of "the bubble" for a second and finally realize what type of things are actually happening in the world. In the current events class we spent a whole cycle studying child mortality and the amount of humans that die below the age of 5 is staggering. Around the world children suffer because their basic necessities of life are not met. I can only imagine the thoughts and the feelings of a mom when she hears her son or daughter cry because he or she is hungry and is slowly dying, and there is nothing she can do. Luckily there are organizations in this world which try to help the kids that need it, organizations like UNICEF. UNICEF has taken steps in developing a cheap food source that has the nutrition a baby needs daily, even though this is a good start towards solving the problem, there are still millions of kids that require help and that help is not granted to them. Child mortality is a real struggle and we need to try to help in anyway we can.
Diego, I completely agree with your view. In our bubble, we fail to realize a ton of issues that many people suffer, and they are mind-blowing once you notice them.
