Thoughts On Child Mortality

To say that child mortality is a huge issue and it has been an issue for a long time is an understatement. Under five mortality rate is the number of children who die per year due to circumstances because of child mortality. This is unacceptable especially when its due to the fact that women aren't educated on how to feed their children and therefore simple don't know how. This is an issue that has been suppressed for many years now and it is time for things to change.

Even though it is still an immense issue currently, I think that in many countries it has gotten better throughout the years. Rates have been decreasing on the number of children that die due to child mortality. As time passes I think that child mortality will decrease immensely. A way for people to become aware of child mortality is social media. Posting pictures of children who are starving and parents struggling to save their children can make society intervene and do something about this hunger striking world wide. It can be an incentive to others to take charge in educating mothers on how to properly feed children when their a toddlers. Or it can provoke the government to have strict rules and cause implications on citizens in order to reduce child mortality.

In class we discussed many potential solutions after watching videos including vaccines to keep children from dying, vitamins to make children stronger and food cards to feed the children. I think the most potential solution are the food cards. It works by putting an amount on a card for the parents to buy food every month.
