Indirectly beneficial
I can honestly say that this is the most stress-inducing time I have endured thus far in my life. Obviously, I feel a lot of pressure to write excelling college application essays that will maximize my chances of getting into a college I like. Homework and math problems eat up my time with their vicious, insatiable appetites. Sleep is a rare commodity these days. Given these strenuous conditions, the four class periods from last week were a much-needed damper on my stress. I used the time to work on revising my college essays, and I feel like I made valuable progress. In a sense, the process of writing these essays enhance my ability to perform a meaningful analysis of the current events we discuss in class. It allows me to think deeply about myself, and this introspection and reflection about my life experiences lead to a deeper understanding of my personal identity and ethical standpoint. They help me discover a sense of purpose and what I want to accomplish with my life. With these powerful thoughts becoming more clear in my mind, I am better armed to take a clear, coherent stance on the moral aspect of the current events we explore, and one that resonates deeply with my identity and convictions. Moreover, I am also better oriented when it comes to identifying possible long-term contributions I could make with my life to help solve or improve global issues. I come in with a more realistic image of what my future could be like and the career paths I could find most satisfying, so this allows me to develop a deeper conscience with regard to my role and responsibility in helping humanity. As such, these four days have enhanced my future analysis of current events and thus are indirectly beneficial to my learning experience in this class.
