Immigration
Throughout this cycle I have learned that immigrants are classified into different categories. Refugees and asylum seekers are immigrants that had to leave from their country because of a political conflict, their live was at risk. Legal immigrants are often people that leave their country to look for a better life in a another country with more opportunities with their legal papers. Governments struggling to create a humane immigration policy for illegal immigrants that are moving to another country to find a better opportunity. They want to help other people but not to the degree that their country is invaded by people from another nationality. I also learned that legal immigrants has a child in a country, that child doesn’t necessarily have an automatic citizenship in the country their were born to. There are two different nationality laws Jus Soli which gives nationality if you were born in the land, and Jus Sanguinis that for a child to acquire nationality his parents or one of his parents has to be from that country. Some countries have a combination of the two as well. Immigration is something that is going to challenge us more in the future with the rising immigration that occurring worldwide and we should start thinking about better solutions.
