Reflection Blog
On the second semester on my junior year in high school, I
took a class called Current Events. In this class, I learned about current
world and global issues going on during the 21st century. We learned
about terrorism, the need of resources in some countries, and the global goals.
Personally, I really enjoyed the class because there were many interesting and
eye – opening things we talked about and discussed as a class that really
shocked me. The topic that I really enjoyed the most was learning about
terrorism in the Middle East, specifically ISIS. Due to the fact that ISIS is
one of the top world problems right now, made me more interested in learning
about this. What I didn’t enjoy doing the most was watching the Ted Talks. In
my opinion, I would’ve preferred discussing with the teacher about what the Ted
Talks talked about. There were many times where I was falling asleep to a 20-minute
video because of the amount of sleep I missed the night before due to the
amount of AP homework I had. Another factor that made me not like the Ted Talks
was the fact that many of the speakers spoke in a monotone voice that made the
video boring. There were also some Ted Talks, which I liked. For example, the
Ted Talk on procrastination was my favorite. In this talk, the speaker spoke
with a not-boring voice that made it enjoyable to listen to. Also, this speaker
talked about a topic in which every single human being can relate. In
conclusion, I really enjoyed this class. Even though there were some things we
did that I didn’t really like that much, I still liked the topics we learned. I
hope that more students enroll in this class next year so they could become
more aware of their sorroundings.
The problem was a lack of sleep methinks! You did not reflect on the change/not change in you through the issues discussed in class. Lacks some depth.
