Insight into my Brain

The mind develops in a particular way, by which as we grow up we become more aware of our surroundings. Growing up in the Dominican Republic, studying in one of the best private schools (Carol Morgan School) the country has to offer, and having everything necessary to thrive forward as an excellent professional and human being, as I came close to the age I am today I started to perceive what I consider to be my top discontent: inequality. Tourists from all over the globe travel to the Dominican Republic’s famous vacation sites, Punta Cana, SamanĂ¡, Casa de Campo, etc. However, few step out of this fantasy location, in which four-year old children the height of a car’s tire are begging for money; they will return home at dusk, give the earned capital to their family so that they can buy food or other necessities, and then return to beg some more on the next day. These illiterate kids are victims of their parent’s monetary urgency, by which, because of their family’s severe deprivation and the problems present in their environment, they cannot prosper. Sadly, only some individuals can sense the urgency in this educational and basic needs inequality. Others might only feel sorry for the less fortunate. The rest do nothing regarding the topic. We ignore and avoid an issue until it is barging into our faces. We must realize that we all inside the same boat, if we neglect those who need help, we will all suffer the consequences.
