Gender Inequality in the XXI Century

For over centuries the global civilization have been ruled in a patriarchal manner. Thus, as advances (technological, medical, educational, etc.) are made in the XXI century, global citizens have prolonged the inequality present between both genders. Cognizant of the issue, most males choose to overlook the subject that serves to their benefit and majorly affects women, using it to justify the violence and discrimination against them. Today, the prejudice present in the working sector takes an economic turn against women, by which they are paid $0.77 cents for every dollar ($1.00) a man is paid. Gender equality refers to the equal opportunities between both sexes. A human’s brain potential is not based on its sex, but on the scholastic training it has received. Hence, by accepting and allowing females to have equal educational resources/ opportunities, the negative treatment and perception of women in the work place would decrease significantly.
Not only that but some women are suppressed by the fear of a future without a man, bringing to their attention that without them, a woman would live a dreadful life of unemployment. As a result, these females choose to withstand the violence or disrespect practiced on them, later teaching this kind of behavior to their children, and so on and so forth. Ultimately, women and men do not exert the same roles – the chivalry towards a woman during courtship, the role of a mother with her child, or the natural (not trained) strength of a man. Yet, the equal work opportunities, without female objectification or degradation of the female intellect, is the change that is being demanded in this century.
