Gender Inequality and Gender Issues

The most infuriating part of Western culture for me is the resistance to the feminist movement. I have to say, ever since the suffrage movement for women emerged in the 1800s, women's status in the world has definitely improved for the better. After WW1 we won political rights with the right to vote but the long walk to equality did not end when we received the right to vote. Still today, women are economically and socially unequal. There is no denying the fact that there is a real wage gap in the work place, there is no denying that women still face the imminent threat of being violated when walking alone, and there is no denying the fact that still in the world some girls aren't even allowed to attend school. So why does the "menist", anti-feminist movement exist? In order to comprehend how a person could deny another person basic human rights, we have to understand the context of this movement. This movement originates from a place of hatred and pure ignorance, some privileged men believe that since they cannot "see" the issue, therefore it doesn't exist. These are the limitations of human empathy. If a person is unable to put themselves in another's shoes, then they will never begin to understand another person's reality. Despite all of the disseminated information about women's issues around the world, these "menists" are simply too ignorant or too sociopathic to understand that women still face serious issues that affect their health, their job opportunities, and their right to live a good job. So when a person denies the existence of clear issues of the world, they are simply taking the stance of an aggressor.
