Social Index in Progress

In class we looked over the progress each country has made and how much more they have to go before they reach the goal made by the UN. A program called Global Goals plans to make improvements for example no more hunger or poverty and such by 2030. Such goals seem promising and it seems to be working but it takes more than the efforts we are doing now to change before 2030. Most countries like Norway, are making leaps towards the goals while others like China aren’t really making the cut. The Dominican Republic is also a bit behind there score being 61.3% and the goal is to reach 71%.  I tried to put it into contest so that I could understand it myself so I used the country I lived in previous to moving to the D.R, France. Of course it might seem a bit unfair to compare a 3rd world country to a 1st world country but I needed to have an image of the difference between the two. Obviously France had by far the best especially when it came to water and sanitation where they had 100 and the D.R had 74.32 which isn’t that bad at all. The thing that did surprise me was when I say that the D.R had a higher score than France in one part. That one part was the Ecosystem Sustainability where the D.R had 56.42 while France had 54.55! Sure there isn’t that big of a difference but it’s still very good for a 3rd world country. I do believe that this county can do better though they might need a little help. But then again I think all countries should try to help one another be the best they can possibly be no matter who or what the country is. We all wish to prosper in the future so we might as well do it together.
