Gender Issues

While the world has achieved progress towards gender equality  and women’s empowerment under the Millennium Development Goals (UN), women and girls continue to suffer discrimination and violence in every part of the world.

Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful and sustainable world.

Providing women and girls with equal access to education, health care, decent work, and representation in political and economic decision-making processes will fuel sustainable economies and benefit societies and humanity at large.

Gender issues have always been quite the controversial topic, but now it has sparked riots and uprisings and has led to women tired of the discrimination and injustice. Women have the disadvantage of living in a community where they are treated unfairly, in their households, jobs, schools, universities, everywhere. It has become an interesting discussion filled with new discoveries such as misinterpretation in mass media and, even in TV shows.

Gender equality is a human right. Women are entitled to live with dignity and with freedom from want and from fear. Women should not be treated as inferiors, rather as equals. We have done things all around and have gained enough credibility to be treated as just the same as men.
