Marijuana as Medicine? Yes or no?
The term medical marijuana refers to using the whole unprocessed marijuana plant or its basic extracts to treat a disease or symptom. There has been a conflict debating whether marijuana is good for the health. Some are strongly against it but others are not. There have been medical cases that prove indeed the marijuana has helped them get better. For example, the case of Charlotte Figi was 3 months old when she had her first seizure. From that day on she continued having seizures and was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome, a rare severe form of intractable epilepsy. Her parents saw her suffer for years until they sought a solution they had never thought they would choose. It was getting to the point where she was getting 300 seizures per week and no medicine had helped her. This is why they decided to study profoundly the effect of medical marijuana and after researching other medical cases they decided to give marijuana to Charlotte. It was hard to find medical marijuana low on THC but high in CBD, a cannabinoid that does not affect the mind or behavior. It useful in reducing pain and inflammation, controlling epileptic seizures, and treating mental illness and addictions. From the day that they introduced marijuana to their kid, they saw great progress. This is why based on Charlotte's case and others I support the use of marijuana for only medical reasons. If it helps someone get better then I support it.
