Medical use of marijuana
After much research has been done, doctors are starting to prove that Marijuana is beneficial to solve many diseases. Marijuana, the plant, has not been recognized as a medicine but the chemical inside it, known as cannabinoids, has two FDA-approved medications. THC and CBD are the two main cannabis used for the medicine. THC may increase appetite, reduce nausea, decrease pain, inflammation, and muscle control problems. CBD does not affect the mind or behavior. It may be useful in reducing pain and inflammation, controlling seizures, and treating mental illness and addictions. The medicine is available in ingested or vaporized pills, and foods such as brownies, chocolate bars, and cookies. Hundreds of humans have been examined to determine the risks and benefit of this medication. The medicine has been used to treat certain conditions such as childhood epilepsy, causing children to have unstoppable seizures. A chemical inside the marijuana also proves to stop cancer from spreading and slows progression of Alzheimer's disease. Still, many states have not legalized the use of marijuana in general, but do allow the medication that has cannabis. All the states require a doctor’s approval to receive the medical form and they all have their limits to the use. Doctor's are careful to whom they offer this medication and the legalization is starting to increase throughout the states.
