Reflection of the Semester
I really enjoyed Current Events this semester, I would even go as far as saying this should be a required course. The class allows us to have an open mind towards new ideas and makes us more informed and aware of the news that is forming the modern world. I enjoyed learning about world conflicts regarding culture, economics, and politics.
During my time in this course American elections were going on, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I don’t know much about politics and watching the debates in this class opened my eyes to politics. We reviewed the facts of each debate and discussed why some people were pro or against Trump and Hillary.
Watching Ted Talks was also really interesting; we discussed subjects such as sexism, education, global goals, environmental problems, marijuana legalization, ISIS and more. Without this class, I would’ve never had the opportunity to discuss all these taboo subjects in a safe environment. Ms.Costales also did an amazing job of incorporating technology and social media into the work we do. I loved this class and will surely miss it.
