Climate Change

In the last two months we have learned about the effects of climate change and how these effects can be solved. Climate change is defined as increase in temperature caused by an increase in the carbon dioxide at the atmosphere. In the last centuries  when the carbon dioxide emissions were stable, the temperature would remain constant because the solar rays would enter the Earth’s atmosphere and bounce back into space, but because of the extra carbon in the atmosphere these rays get trapped and in turn warm up the planet.  The increase in the emissions are mainly caused by humans and the new technologies we have created to live comfortably as we do, such as the burning of forests to create new territory to produce agriculture or the use of fossil fuels to fuel cars. The current way of living is not sustainable since these damage the environment and place in jeopardy the human kind. These effects of climate change are currently happening such as the melting of glaciers and warmer summers. This summer, because of climate change, we saw three category five hurricanes harm the caribbean in less than a month. This was nothing like ever seen before, and it was caused by climate change.  To solve climate change is very simple but hard to achieve in less than a year, we have to eliminate the use of the current ways of living and adapt new, cleaner ones. Instead of consuming plastic, we could use biodegradable plastics than don't harm the environment. Instead of fossil fuels, like gas and diesel, we can harness the power of the sun and wind to power our houses and vehicles. We in the twenty-first century have the technology to eradicate climate change but we don't use these technologies because we have to change people's mentality and educate them on making the right decisions. We have to vote on governmental officers that want to change the world and have them give power to those who don't have the resources to make the adequate resources to make the change. Humanity needs to face the greatest threat of all time in a fast efficient way in order to prevent the future problems that climate change will bring.
