Quarter 1 Summary

This quarter was a very interesting and fun quarter, in which I learned a lot about the things going on in the world and what we can do to better these issues. When we started the quarter working hard on the global goals, I got hooked since the betterment of our planet and the people living in it is something that has always caught my attention. The global goals gave me various ideas on what I can do to make the world a better place. After that the "Cowspiracy" film was frightening, to think that meat causes so much harm was inconceivable to me. . . Still plan on continuing my meat eating habits despite the documentary. I did get convinced into continuing my other habits, such as not drinking milk and eating eggs, which despite only being one person could have a small effect on our planet. Finally the infographic was an amazing project. I thoroughly enjoyed having to research and read up on medieval information and things regarding the more brutal era of the continent of Europe. I even got too do my own math and percentages by calculating the total percentage of fortress/castles in Europe. I did this by multiplying the average sq. miles of a castle by an estimate of the amount of castles that existed during the middle ages. I then divided this number by the total sq. miles of Europe, to get my percentage which was 0.002%. Overall it was quite an engaging quarter, and I hope we can do more things such as these. One of my recommendations would be to research the political corruption afflicting our planet, from countries like Somalia to perhaps the United States. This is something Im passionate about and to be able to discuss the corruption around the globe could be extremely interesting for this class.
