Climate Change

Climate change is a real problem. People like the president of the United States,Donald Trump, regard it as a hoax even to the extent of making jokes about them. The dictionary definition of climate change according to Merriam-Webster is changes in Earth's weather patterns. These changes are due to man made problems like plastic waste , eating meat and deforestation. Plastic waste is the most popular of these problems. Plastic water bottles and plastic bags are deeply harving our environment. 10 million metric tons of bags and bottles end up in the world oceans. Also our ocean are suffering from ocean acidification. The oceans are observing carbon dioxide from our atmosphere and this is causing them to raise its acid level. This puts at risk every species that lives in the ocean. Another very important issues causing climate change is the consumption of meat. Producing one 1 kg of meat causes 34.6 kg of carbon dioxide. Also a pound of meat need at least 1,874 gallons of water. Just in a ¼ pound hamburger beef you need 460 gallons of meat. Cows are also causing a lot of problems. Right now the cows are being mass produced because the need for beef is bigger. Every time a cow eats it burps methane which is a greenhouse gas very deadly to the atmosphere. And cows also take up a lot of space leading to deforestation. About 90% of the Amazon Rainforest land that has been deforested goes to agriculture. Cows right now are taking about 27% of the Earth mass. ALso cows eat a lot of grains which could be growing to feed the starving kids in countries like Burundi were 73.4% of the population is going through starvation or in Eritrea were 65.4% of the population is going through starvation. ANd the last major problem is deforestation. Just in 2016 768,935 sq km of rainforest have been deforested. THis is a very deadly situation because it's forcing animals to move from their ecosystems and even humans like tribals who live there are forced to move. It is predicted than in less than 100 years we will go through a mass extinction and many animals we know and see about today are going to be gone forever. We as humans especially my generation have to stand up. We have to realize that the world needs change and fast before it's too late. Before we reach the turning point.
