Drug Legalization Blog

Drug legalization has been one of the most debated topics of the modern world, especially for weed or marijuana. In my opinion, drugs like heroin, cocaine, or crack shouldn’t be made legal because they are only used recreationally. Marijuana, on the other hand, should be legal because it is a natural plant that is smoked. Even though there are many laboratories where the levels of THC (what gets you high) are dramatically increased for people to use it recreationally, there are also laboratories where THC levels are dramatically decreased for medicinal purposes.

The vast majority of drug death cases come from drugs that are as dangerous as heroin or crack, instead of marijuana. This is because none of these drugs could be used to treat a disease or disorder. This so-called “dangerous drug” by many people around the world could save people with glaucoma or with seizure – related born disorders. In my Current Events class, my teacher, Ms. Costales, showed us a documentary where a small child was having hundreds of seizures a week and no pill was saving her. Her parents were left with no choice but to try out marijuana as a medicine and it successfully worked. Even though many professional doctors do not recommend it, the “illegal” drug reduced her seizures from 100 a week to once a week to once a month.

Many states in the US have similar views towards my opinion; that is why it is legal in some states. Those states include Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. I’ve personally been to two of those states, and I have to say that the people are much nicer in states where marijuana is legal than in states where marijuana is illegal. I could make the clear connection right away. It is incredible how the legalization of this drug has a positive impact on people who don’t even use it.

  2. Good job, but you didn't motion what made Marijuana good for medical use which is the BHC ( I think that's what its called). Also try to look at it from the cops prospective of this argument.

  3. I think the argument that because it is natural it should be legal is not a very strong basis to legalize a very untested product. While you mention its medical use you do not mention why it should be legalized recreationally.

  4. I think you are generalizing a little. It is your opinion, you can defend it in other ways.
