Islam Ted Talks Opinion
Out of the two Ted Talks I watched today in class, the second one impacted me the most. It was about this man who as a kid was bullied for something he couldn't control. He was raised by an Egyptian Engineer and a caring American mother. He talked about how he was taken to a shooting range with his dad and all his uncles and how in that moment he didn't understand the feeling that was going on. Six years later he managed to make the connection as to why his uncles and his father were going to shooting ranges. In 1993, a van filled with 1,500 pounds of explosives was parked in the parking lot of the Northern Tower of the World Trade Center. The people responsible for this were the people the man in the Ted Talk referred to as "father" or "uncle". He then came to describe how his father wanted him to pursue his tracks and how he didn't end up doing this. I had never seen a story as impacting as this one in a Ted Talk.
