Immigration
To be an immigrant is to be a foreigner in another country. But, after what period of time living as an immigrant in another country, does one become a citizen? Even having lived in a country for decades as an immigrant, can one ever be accepted by others as a citizen of that country? The life of an immigrant is not easy. For some better off immigrants it may be a bit easier off, but still difficult. For undocumented immigrants, it is normally the hardest. Illegal immigrants normally leave their homes, not because they want too, but because they have to. They stow away in trucks, crates, boats ir suitcases to be smuggled across borders. They stumble through deserts, swim through seas, or climb mountains simply to reach borders where they know not if they will be permitted entry. Many of these journeys are treacherous, and many immigrants to not reach their destinations alive. Whether it be war, famine, job loss, or natural disaster, immigrants do not simply leave their own countries because they want to. They realize the dangers they will face and the risk they will have to take, and we must help them reach safety and freedom. I watched a video about a Mexican man whose family illegally crossed the border. He remembers growing up not knowing if his parents would be home after school, or if they would be on a truck being deported back to Mexico. He spoke about how people's mindsets need to change if we are to survive as a race and nation. We need to accept immigration and help those in need.
Excellent!
