Immigration

Immigration is the international movement of people into a place of which they are not natives or do not process citizenships in order to reside there. When people cross borders they are called migrants or immigrants , depending on the perspective they are seen in. Immigration is seen as a "big problem" in the world, especially in the US where many immigrants cross the borders illegally. Being an illegal immigrant (undocumented immigrant) means that you came into a country illegally or undocumented whether it was by entering in an illegal way (yolas, or crossed the border) or by staying in a country with expired papers.

Immigrants are motivated to leave their countries for various reasons. Some of these reasons include the lack of access to resources like in Venezuela, the desire to surpass themselves economically, to find work, escape from war/persecution, because of natural reasons..., etc. They believe that leaving their country is what is best for them to be at peace and be stable. The UN reports that as of 2015 there are about 244 million immigrants living worldwide,  both undocumented and documented.

In my opinion it is very good that other countries help illegal/undocumented immigrants that reside in their country, yet in some countries like ours, the DR, it is somewhat impossible to uphold all the immigrants, especially from Haiti. Our country is not economically nor does it have the capable amount of space in order to help all. There are other ways that we can help them in the mean time like by donating resources to them, especially after the disastrous effects that hurricane Matthew caused; going over there for community service/spending time with them and many other ways that does not necessarily have to be a direct contact.
