Hello, my name is Heeweon Koo.
Hello, my name is Heeweon Koo.
I was born and grew up in Seoul, Korea until I moved to this beautiful island, Dominican Republic. My blood is not a mixture of Asia and the Caribbean, yet my world has different cultures. My world talks in different languages with different sounds. I’m willing to say loudly and proudly that I’m getting used to new culture (even though it has been a step by step process) and taking this experience as a challenge that will further be a good stepping stone for my future. I’m looking forward to many different new opportunities, challenges and experiences I will be facing. It’s always nervous but exciting to try and embrace new things. Isn’t it?
I consider myself a very hardworking and caring person. This kind of personality made me get here and built who I am. No matter what I do I always try my very best and keep in mind to be thankful and grateful for my people, my family, my friends in my life. Fortunately for me, my family loves traveling and spending time together. So we've traveled land and sea and I loved it.
I often enjoy and appreciate being alone or I’ll say getting rid of everything that bothers me from relaxing. My extracurricular time is usually split between lying in my bed indulge myself with a stack of magazines, books, stories people chose to share and people watching at cafes. Of course, with a cup of coffee or tea. Also I’m passionate about how incredibly journalism and media affect our daily lives. My passion within journalism and media is much more than just writing articles or stories. I communicate by sharing stories, being aware of what’s going on all over the world and open-minded. I’m currently writing and publishing articles about Dominican Republic and Carol Morgan school for a small non-profit Korean student magazine.
