YO by Adri

I live in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and although I am of Spanish descent, I am extremely proud of being Dominican. I consider myself to be loving and kind, and although some say I have an RBF, I try to always carry a smile on my face, in an attempt to make everyone around me feel happy and cared for. Nothing makes me happier than seeing others happy because of something I did, I sympathize with everyone and try to imagine myself in everyone else’s shoes. I am outgoing and earnest and sometimes speak more than I should; however, I always want to share infectious good humor.
I dream of becoming a recognizable surgeon and traveling the world offering my help to those who need it.  I’m currently on the 12th and last year of high school at Carol Morgan school, which I plan on graduating successfully and continuing my scholarly experience studying medicine here in DR. I look forward to working part time at a plastic surgery clinic in which I’ve had a previous internship and hope to one day go abroad to do my specialty, I’m considering Madrid, Brazil, Guadalajara, and Navarra; some of the places with the best plastic surgery in the world.

I’m deeply grateful for my family and friends, they have always led me in the direction of my dreams and I’m inspired to do better and work hard because they all have faith in me.
On a separate and final note, I am a complete book worm… I fell in love with books around middle school and since then it has become my haven. Books are my way of escaping the world and falling into the lives of characters I admire and wish to become. I also love writing poetry; I consider it the blood of the soul.

Basically, my life can be summed up by:

1.     Kill em with kindness.
2.     Appreciate those who care for you
3.     “Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are”

4.     “Poetry is the clear expression of mixed feelings (W.H. Auden).”
