Gender Issues

According to World Health Organization gender roles is defined as "socially constructed roles, behaviors, and activities that a given society consideres appropriate for men and women". It is important to emphasize the word "socially" because now a days these roles have been determined by society dating back since the start of civilizations. In the early ages of humans women expected to do tasks such as cooking, taking care of the household, and taking care of the kids. This customs have continued to this day because society sees this as the right and appropriate thing for women to do. This opinion has changed throughout the years with the rise of women to claim their equal rights. According to statistics "women earned 83% of what men earned", this fact is astonishing because this might seem insignificant but society has to realize that is wrong to accept an inequality between the sexes. The solution to this never ending issue has to start with appropriate education. Schools have to transmit the fact that men and women are the same and have the equal rights. By educating the younger generation this will create a new perspective about gender roles and hopefully this can reduce the number "machistas" in the world. In addition, women should continue to pursue their desire to hold important positions in governments, companies, and job. This dilemma will never be solved until governments and leaders start educating the society in accepting the equality of men and women. Clearly, women have the same rights and are capable of doing the same or better than men in any field.
