Gender Issue

I believe that we live in a world where women and men should have equal rights, however, they don't. Women are categorized by society as objects. We see this in the documentary that we saw in class, Miss Representation. However, my thoughts about gender issue are some like alike and somehow different. In my point of view, women are under categorized by men. We can see this in examples such as how in the same position in a workplace, men make more money than women. Also, women have to pay taxes on female products and men don't. How is that fair? This is something that has been going on for years. Because of this, it has shaped an idea of women in society. This image is that women are inferior to men, even though it is not accurate. Because of this image sayings such as “like a girl” have been made up. Also the media has partaken and made this image even broader. They have done this by utilizing women as sexual symbols, gossip machines and more. What this does is create this image of women in viewers, which helps spread this idea making it increase in society. This is problematic because it beeing done in movies and tv shows for kids and adults, which means that everyone can see this. I believe that we live in a world where women and men should have equal right, but in reality we don't. In order to have equality we must shape a new idea of women into society.
