Eliminate the glass ceiling.

Gender Issues. Some people roll their eyes and deny their very existence, while others fight to close the gap. Women have always been considered the lesser part of society. In Ancient China women feet were broken and deformed. In Medieval Europe, women were simple possessions meant to marry off young, produce heirs, and tend to men’s every need. In the United States, women could not vote until 1920. Today you can see it in the glass ceiling. According to Oxford Dictionaries, the glass ceiling is  “an unacknowledged barrier to advancement in a profession, especially affecting women and members of minorities.” Men are still favored for all jobs just because they are males.  The US government, one of the major superpowers of the world which boast about moving forward, is made up of mostly men. In their house of representatives, 19.1% of seats are held by women, and in the Senate, only 21% of seats are held by women. People may not admit it, but women have to work twice as hard to achieve half of what a man achieves. Its not a fair reality, but we have to prove ourselves worthy every day when many times we surpass a male. Even in Hollywood, most speaking roles are held by men. Why? Because people believe that men are more competent, more mature, more adaptable. People think men are superior when women and men are equals. There simply one difference between them. Women can have a child and men cannot. In my opinion, this is an advantage because females can create a life and males cant. It is the time that we are seen as equals. The playing field needs to be evened. We were created in the same way, but we are seen differently. It has to stop. Eliminate the barriers. Eliminate the walls. Eliminate the glass ceiling.
