Summary of Learning
Believing that we are not affected by issues that surround our existence is an illusion. An arc boarded by a variety of passengers experiences a leak on a verge. Initially, the leakage negatively affects one side, yet as the ongoing entry of water continuous filling the arc, the other unaffected side is now disturbed, until the arc is completely submerged under water. Nevertheless, the social, economic, or political status that an individual might have had prior to the sinking is now irrelevant as all passengers are adversely affected. This analogy correctly assimilates to the global perception on current events witnessed today. The current development and progression of climate change by our use of carbon-emitting machinery for our proper economic development; or, how millions of undocumented immigrants live in the shadows; or, how 783 million (1 in 9) people do not have access to clean water, and 2.5 (1 in 3) million do not have access to adequate sanitation; or, how the global civilization has been ruled in a patriarchal manner, where women are paid $0.77 cents for every dollar ($1.00) a man is paid; or, how ISIS gradually forces all non-Muslims to convert to Islam using fear and terrorist means, such as cutting heads, the indoctrination of the young, and the torture of those who oppose, irrevocably changes the way we live one day at a time. By teaching the rising generation about the current issues that will ultimately affect the way we live, we are generating a group of global citizens that can and will potentially salvage the globe with all of us in it.
