Humanity is on a Collision Course with Nature

Values are considered to be on the downfall from the start of the twenty-first century; from the chivalry of men being lost and women loosing their self-respect, to us logically deeming our globe is less important than our economic or proper prosperity. “Humanity is on a collision course with nature.” I believe all drastic deterioration of earth is caused by the human existence and the clash of its values. On earth, there are seven continents and one-hundred-and-ninety-six official countries, by which a number of them are consider to be more or less economically developed. Since the start of the industrial revolution, we have used carbon emitting machinery for the economic development of ourselves, hence the country. Today, we are constantly bombarded by scientists with the novel idea of using renewable energy – such as wind, solar, or water power – instead of burning fossil fuels, proving that technology has made the transition from fuel to any of these powers easier. Yet, if scientists, along with technology, have provided the tools that we need for a healthy life, thus healthy world, then why is climate change reaching a point of no return? In an analytical perspective, underdeveloped countries invest on the cheapest source of energy – fossil fuels, for they need to invest more on education, infrastructure, etc. On the other hand, developed countries with a larger budget use the same type of energy as underdeveloped countries, when they could evidently use renewable energy. It is because of each nation’s proper interest and desire to thrive economically to a greater level, that wealthy nations are not willing to give up fossil fuels, forcing countries that clearly cannot, to do it for them. Nevertheless, undeveloped countries stay in the dark, while developed ones stay in the light. Ultimately, all nations with be submerged under the cumulative gasses that we have emitted throughout history. Thereby, as values continue to dilute with interests, climate change will keep progressing, until the air we breath is fully toxic and the land we live on is dead.
