Marijuana Legalization

The consuming of marijuana, otherwise known as cannabis, weed and pot, is a very controversial issue  that is dominating the world today. According to the Washington Post, research shows that 61% of Americans support the legalization of this drug. But, there is a catch to it. Some people believe that only the use of medical marijuana should be legal, while others believe that it should be legal for both medical and recreational use, but with restrictions on amount.

In my opinion, the the usage of marijuana should become legal. According to Time, the regular consumption of marijuana does not cause much harm physically. Researchers did a study in people consuming marijuana from 18 to 38. The results at age 38 showed that the only harm was in their teeth. I think that research should be trusted. Marijuana usage unlike other drugs such as alcohol and tobacco does not harm the body. Those who drink heavily harm their liver, while those who smoke heavily harm their lungs. If marijuana does not have negative impacts on peoples health, then I believe it is right to legalize it.

Many harmful drugs are not prohibited, while marijuana, a drug that shows to have no harm, is. What calls people to smoke heavy amounts of marijuana is that it's  forbidden, but if permitted like alcohol and tobacco, would people more and more people still smoke as much?
