Why I Support Mary Jane...

  Maybe it is my reluctance to accept the government's brainwashing and abundant propaganda as a natural rebel, or it might just be that I realized that cannabis isn't really our enemy. But, I believe that marijuana should be legalized, at least for medical purposes. As intelligent and educated people, we cannot fail our curiosity to explore the unknowns of cannabis. We can't deprive our civilization of the research and findings this mystery can bring. We can also not neglect the fact that we are using far more dangerous drugs with a far more better reputation than marijuana. Society has conditioned us to believe that marijuana is more dangerous and is a gateway drug for other more precarious substances such as cocaine and heroine. What most people do not know is that cannabis is made up of two chemicals that cause two distinct reactions in the brain when consuming cannabis. These two reactions are caused by THC and CBD. The CBD is the chemical found in weed that is used for medical purposes. The THC is what causes the high. If the levels of THC are regulated so that they do not become dangerous then, marijuana legalization does not have to be such a big deal. Weed is not dangerous to the body. Studies have even found that it does not affect a person's reactions if the individual is a regular consumer of the drug. 

   Overall, I believe that the drug should be completely legalized, recreationally and for medicinal purposes. Alcohol and nicotine are far more dangerous and unhealthy than marijuana is yet the worse reputation and stereotype is linked to the drug. We cannot be brainwashed into bullying a substance into illegalization, we are not puppets and the government should not pull our strings.
