Marijuana

I strongly believed that marijuana, or cannabis, should be legal ONLY for medicinal purposes. However, after watching the two documentaries in class, I have changed my mind drastically. I now believe that marijuana being an illegal drug causes more problems than solutions. I also now began to question, how is it that alcohol and cigars, that are also drugs, are legal, when they cause more deaths, violence, domestic issues, etc than marijuana has ever caused? Furthermore, I was not aware of all the positive benefits cannabis could have in people, specially in children. It is not only a medicine, but to some a miracle. In the documentary, we met a five year old girl, who was suffering of extreme seizures. She was experiencing up to a 100 a day and could not speak, talk, run, or live a normal and happy life like her twin. Charlotte was running out of options, and none of the strong and very harmful medicines she was given were working, so they reached out to a family that grows various types of Cannabis.  After trying it for the first time, Charlotte had her first day without a seizure in her entire life. Watching Charlotte running and talking made me cry. It was life changing, and truly changed all my opinions about marijuana in general. Moreover, I know think of marijuana as more of a lifestyle, then a drug. It is illegal to tell someone how to live their life. So therefore, marijuana should be legal not only in US but worldwide, this will also put drug cartels out of business.
