Marijuana Legalization
Every day people use drugs for their medical purpose or for their recreational purpose. Many of these drugs are very popular such as Marijuana but are illegal in the majority countries. As a result, people used them illegally and that ends up causing a greater trouble for people. It is understandable that drugs such as heroin and cocaine, which are highly addictive, are banned by law. What I don't understand is why marijuana, also known as cannabis, has been banned from so many places around the world. Marijuana is not as dangerous as other drugs that are legal such as alcohol. Every day, a lot of people die from alcohol poisoning yet it is still legal almost everywhere. Cigarettes are another very dangerous product that is available in most parts of the world. Millions of people addicted to cigarettes and many of those people die due to lung cancer or other of the many harmful effects that cigarettes can have on the human body. After learning all of this shocking information in my Current Events class I still can’t believe that these two substances are legal while marijuana is not. Marijuana, which has been researched thoroughly, is a lot less dangerous than the other substances that I previously mentioned. Nobody has overdosed from marijuana, no deaths have been linked to it, and it is a lot less addictive than alcohol or cigarettes. With all of this being said, I believe marijuana should be legalized for both medical and recreational used. I think that like everything, if you are moderate and use it wisely, there should be no problem at all.
Good job.
