Marijuana

Marijuana, a simple plant that has gained wide-scale reputation as a deadly drug that should be illegal. This substance can be harmful to the brain yet others like alcohol and cigarettes can be much worse. Crime in the United States is influenced by this simple and harmless herb. Drug deals and gang violence are a huge thing because of the lack of legality of weed in the US. It has been proven that prohibition of substances is more harmful than helpful. In the 1920s alcohol was prohibited, which led to gang violence and notorious mobsters like Al Capone. Alcohol has many deaths while their are 0 reported deaths attributed to marijuana. Cannabis' medicinal components are very beneficial and safer to the body than any prescription medications. It helps with seizures and epilepsy. There is no reason why Xanax and other drugs like Codeine are legal but marijuana, a natural green is not. Although I dislike the use of marijuana in people, it is much safer to keep it legal. Adults should have the right to treat their bodies as they please. Although marijuana can be considered a gateway drug, others like alcohol and cigarettes are too. This is not a valid excuse, deaths because of overdoses are attributed to zero, but deaths attributed to gang violence are extremely high. With legalization of cannabis, these drug wars will be greatly diminished, and the streets will be more safe. Government will be able to tax drugs, and essentially make more money which will go back to the country. Its a win win situation, it will help the government and please the people.
