Humanity is on a Collision Course with Nature
When we say "humanity is on a collision course with nature", I can easily say that this is true. Even though we came from nature, and even though we are intricately connected to nature's systems or networks, we are ultimately doomed to 'crash'. Mostly because of our ignorance, and our denial, and our carelessness. Ever since humans learned to industrialize in the 19th century, they have been harming the environment for their own personal profitability. Factories trampled natural forests, and pollution covered the land, and gases destroyed the atmosphere for the prosperity of industry. The destruction of the environment has been crucial for some countries to thrive. Countries such as China and the United States have taken advantage of their natural resources and made a thriving industry off it. Although it may seem that our economic success conflicts with the natural world, it doesn't have to be that way. There are many ways to further the economy with a symbiotic relationship with the environment. Instead of ravaging and exploiting the natural world, humans should take full advantage of its forces without being deleterious. There are many alternatives such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and eco-friendly construction that do not harm the environment. The advancement of society is much more productive and positive when the environment is healthy. Even though it seems as if humans are on a collision course with nature, there are simple ways to change path. Maybe humans should be on an adjacent path no nature going in the same direction towards a common goal: the welfare of the planet.
