Current Events

This semester has been very effective, I have learned a lot about the different opinions people have and have been very informed.  Overall I have enjoyed this class as it relates to wide-scale global problems. I have enjoyed the various presentations, sharing the news with my classmates and exploring both sides in conflicts. I have learned that things aren't always what they seem, and we need to always view both sides in order to have a good opinion.  This class is important and should remain constant in the CMS class list as it helps students both culturally and opens their minds. Although this year was excellent, a good idea for next year would be to limit the amount of TED talks. Although I find the opinions of well respected people very interesting, the fact that we had to take notes on these TED talks distracted me from what was really important. I had trouble multi tasking taking these notes and listening to these very enlightening people. It would be good to have a reflection on these talks after watching them, not during. Overall this class was very refreshing and helped me better understand topics like women's rights, legalization of cannabis, current day politics, ISIS, and many more. For some of these my current views completely changed, for the better. Subjects like cannabis legalization are some that I view in a completely different manor after this class. Overall this was a very positive experience,  and would definitely recommend it to  our fellow classmates. I really enjoyed this class.
