Legal Cannabis

Cannabis legalization is one of the most controversial topics there is. Many argue that Cannabis is a gateway drug, but there is no evidence to support this claim whatsoever. In my opinion Cannabis should have been legalized for medicinal purposes many years ago. I am not getting into the subject of the legalization of it for recreational purposes because that is not something that can’t wait. Research clearly shows that Cannabis has extremely positive effects on people with conditions like epilepsy. In the documentaries we saw in class there was a little kid that took a large amount of pills every day and none of them worked. Her parents felt helpless until the idea of medicinal cannabis was introduced to them. With no other options left they decided to give it a try and let their daughter try it out. A child that had countless seizures per day had not one seizure on the day she was given low THC Cannabis. Surely this is enough evidence of the great benefits cannabis has, so why is it still illegal? This probably has something to do with the legal drugs. Cannabis is just too good which probably means that its introduction to the free market would destroy all purpose for many of the legal drugs out there. In my opinion, medicinal marijuana is the way to go and by how things look, this is exactly how it is going to be. In conclusion, the world has come a long way from how it was, but in the U.S. there is still a long way to go in the legalization of medicinal marijuana. Cannabis is the future of treatments and it is a matter of years until it is finally recognized as a legal treatment.
