Legalize Medical Cannabis
There has been a lengthy discussion regarding the legalization of marijuana for many years now. The “War Against Drugs” has portrayed cannabis as a dangerous, highly addictive narcotic that will lead to worse drugs in the future, so naturally, we must stay away from it. It makes people go crazy, become anxious, and leave them wanting for more. That's why we need to outlaw it, confiscate it, and make sure it does not see the light of day again. Or do we? Truthfully, the societal idea of marijuana is incorrect. There are two components in cannabis that affect people in different ways: THC and CBD. THC causes the release of dopamine, “the happy drug,” which leads to the euphoria effect. In this state, people have anxiety, relaxation, short-term memory impairment, or in other words become “high.” That's the component that people want when they buy marijuana. However, CBD, the other major component, causes entirely different and positive effects on a person's body. Some of the benefits include antioxidant, anticonvulsant, and antiemetic effects. Unlike typical pharmaceuticals that can be highly addictive and in a large quantity/variety deadly, marijuana strains with high CBD are a natural way to heal. People who suffer from Chrons Disease, PTSD, Multiple Sclerosis, epilepsy among others benefit from this type of cannabis. Individuals who suffer tremors restore control within minutes of taking cannabis, people who suffer from seizures eliminate most if not all of the episodes for extended periods of time because of cannabis. I believe marijuana that has high levels of THC (the recreational marijuana) has no business in the hands of the public. It is just another drug that gets people nowhere. On the other hand, strains of cannabis that have high percentage of CBD and low THC should be legalized. This way people can benefit from a more natural and less harmful medicine. There is little to none cases of deaths from cannabis, but there is many cases of it becoming a life saver. Legalize high CBD cannabis today and save millions of lives.
