Immigrants and People of No Nation

During this cycle in Current Events we learned and talked about Immigration. The definition I give to the word “immigration” is when a person moves from one place to another in pursuit of better living conditions or escaping from something. In present day, immigration has become a very controversial topic, a cause of this is the recent refugee crisis in Syria. These are people that have lost everything due to their civil war in their country and are just lucky to be alive. The controversy surrounding this topic is that everyone agrees that they need help but when it comes to doing the actual help the rich countries in Europe are reluctant to do what is needed from them. Even though they do help, it is just too little and not enough. Another issue that is situated in the Dominican Republic is that of the one with the people of no nation which in these case are undocumented Haitians. These people are born here but since their parents are undocumented they do not get their birth certificate and therefore are not legal citizens of this country. I believe that the main cause of this problem is the lack of border control between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. In my opinion these people are in a very difficult situation because they feel Dominican but by law they are not. I believe that the government should make all of the Haitians born before 2005 legal citizens and the people born from 2005 until now illegal. The only problem with this is where the illegal people will go. I honestly have no clue on how to solve this issue and will completely leave that for the country to decide.
