Immigration
Overpopulation is a worldwide global problem, it is hard for governments to control a large amount of people. For this reason they try to limit who goes in and out of their countries. It is very expensive for countries to receive new people who take the country's citizen's jobs. Countries would much rather provide jobs to people of their own nation rather then jobs to the internationals. This is why immigration is such a difficult and lengthy process. Making it so hard to move for the lower class, is what triggers illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is extremely detrimental to society, giving a low wage to these illegal workers and taking actual citizens jobs. Although we might want to help neighboring countries and help others, it is sometimes not economically possible. It is extremely hard to maintain a stable economy with these extra workers. This is why Syria's situation is so complex. Although we want to help these poor people, we can't afford this massive amount of over population. It's hard to see all these people suffering, but the reason they aren't taken in isn't because we are evil or don't care, its because of all the problems with taking these refugees in. We have to look at both parts of the story, not just one. We are all supportive of these poor refugees, yet it is sometimes hard to help them. We have to try and help them one way or another, although we need to be sympathetic for them, we also have to be realistic and look at other countries sides, and their interests.
Great writing Leo!
