Immigrant

Immigration is when a person moves from one country to another. Typically, they do this in order to pursue a better life in general or because they are fleeing some sort of bad situation in their original country. Immigrants are extremely common all around the world. Living in the Dominican Republic, I encounter immigrants all the time. People from Haiti immigrate to our country since here they can work and live a better quality of life. However, we take advantage of these people and pay them salaries that are far below minimum wage for hard, tiring, jobs. This exploitation of immigrants happens all around the world. For example, in the US, Mexicans and a great deal of Latin Americans get the hardest and lowest paying jobs. This happens because most immigrants actually reside illegal, meaning they have no legitimate documents. When an illegal immigrant is caught, they are often deported back to their original country. One huge current event relating to this is in the United States with president Donald Trump. Trump is seeking to pursue all illegal immigrants and send them back to where they came from. Many people agree with him as they do not want strangers from other nationalities lurking around and stealing their jobs. However, there are millions who are against Trump and defend the illegal immigrants (myself included). Why should we have a problem with people who are VERY hardworking, earn little money, and in fact help the country in overall? Therefore, immigrants are those who move to another country looking for better opportunities in life. Although some are illegal, immigrant people are human beings and they deserve a chance to live a better life.
