child mortality and hunger - carlos fernandez

I have learned that child mortality, hunger, and poverty have become major issues in our world today. The under-5 mortality rate is the number of children who die by the age of five, per thousand live births per year. Most of these are due to poverty. Poverty is yet another big problem is today's world. I've learned that over 1.3 billion people live in extreme poverty all around the globe, and they have very limited access to food, water, clothing, and basic needs to survive. With the topic of food, hunger is a big reason of child mortality's presence. Hunger happens to be the #1 cause of child mortality around the world. Not having food to consume seriously affects your digestive system in such a way that even at the youngest of ages, your life can be easily taken away over a very painful and starving process. There are many organizations, such as WHO (World Health Organization) which specializes in helping children in need and reducing child mortality by a wide margin. WHO's goal is to build a better, healthier future for people all over the world. Working through offices in more than 150 countries, WHO staff work side by side with governments and other partners to ensure the highest attainable level of health for all people.
Together they strive to combat diseases – infectious diseases like influenza and HIV and ones like cancer and heart disease. They also help mothers and children survive and thrive so they can look forward to a healthy future. We ensure the safety of the air people breathe, the food they eat, the water they drink – and the medicines and vaccines they need. Organizations like these make a really big difference and are more of what we need in today's world.
