Save Water!

Fresh water is a limited resource in a world with seven billion people with an unlimited need for water.  Water is essential to human life; without water humans will die. Many countries, including the Dominican Republic, suffer from clean water shortages, while other countries have an abundance of water.  In the Dominican Republic, part of the population always has access to clean water, while others suffer from water scarcity.  As young adults we have to try to find solutions to conserve water.

Every day when I wake up, I have water to bathe, water to brush my teeth, water to drink, and water to wash my dishes after eating my breakfast.  Since I have access to safe drinking water all the time it is something I take it for granted and at times I do not use wisely.  Whenever I pass through a barrio in the Dominican Republic and I see someone carrying a bucket of water, I am reminded of the fact that not everyone has access to clean water.  Also this water can be contaminated and people can get water-borne diseases such as cholera, typhoid fever, and other diarrheal diseases.  It is unfair that I have water while others lack this resource and I would like to change this.  Let’s get involved and work together in our water conservation efforts.
