Ending Hunger Now

Today in class we saw and heard a Ted Talks from a women named Josette Sheeran whose purpose was to inform the world about legitimate goals and ideas to end hunger. Everybody know hunger is a worldwide problem, but nobody actually tries to implement or find creative ideas. Like her we should start looking for solutions know that we are informed about the current situation. Josette is the executive director of the United Nations World Food Programme and “every year, the program feeds more than 90 million people, including victims of war and natural disasters, families affected by HIV/AIDS, and school children in poor communities.” Aside from this, Sheeran believes that poverty and hunger are related and if hunger is solved, poverty will start decreasing as well. A problem with poverty is that children don’t get education and by giving out food in schools, parents will want and make an effort for kids to go to school. This is basically showing their relation and the important role poverty. Josette Sheeran says, "I think we can, in our lifetime, win the battle against hunger because we now have the science, technology, know-how, and the logistics to be able to meet hunger where it comes. Those pictures of children with swollen bellies will be a thing of history."I agree with her thoughts because with the technology provided today students like me have the opportunity of knowing and experimenting. The only way to help is to nurture your brain with information and start developing ideas and becoming part of a cause. It's really important that we use what is available for us.
