Hunger And Poverty

Hunger and poverty are two really big issues in the world right now. There is a large amount of the world's population that suffer from these. We can even see them right here in the Dominican Republic. Most people in the country are people with low income, and are people who work with the only goal of having something to eat at night. People here live with the most basic needs, and sometimes they don't even have a roof to sleep under. There are thousands of people who are illiterate; people that dropped out of school to start working. I have met many people that can relate to one of these examples. My nanny didn't know how to read, and in a project last year, I dedicated my time to teach her as much as I can. I taught her for three months, and after I finished my project, I was very happy with the progress I had made. She was able to read the newspaper, something she struggled with before. Like my nanny, there are hundreds of people in the country who had the same issue. People that have the opportunity to make a change should relish it, and do their best to help others.
